The 5 steps to achieve your business goals

We all have already set goals in the past – whether they were personal (the famous new year resolutions!) and professionals. But how many times did we achieve them? How many times did we give up? Research show that 95% of the time, we don’t go through and never end up accomplishing our goals.

If I am talking about business goals here, on my marketing blog, is because without business goals, there is no marketing (or if there is, this is not the type that will bring you results). Your goals are the starting point of everything, including your marketing: your marketing must be aligned with your business goals.

So how can we set our business goals and actually make them happen? Here is a little secret… While your determination will definitely help, you will need a bit more. But I promise this is not that complicated! Here are the 5 steps to reach your goals… easily!

% steps to achieve your goals
Step 1: GOAL

Set your goal by making it an outcome. Ideally, it will be 3 to 5 times your current situation.

Example: You want to increase your monthly income from $10,000 to $30,000.

Step 2: INPUTS

Break down the inputs to reach your goals.

Example: a client worth $2,000. So you will need 15 clients a month to achieve your $30k a month goal. To get these 15 clients, you estimate you will need 50 calls prior to close the deal, and 200 messages to get these 50 calls.

Step 3: ACTIONS

Work out the actions necessary to get there. Don’t be conservative. Do you want to achieve your goal remember? So don’t hesitate to overestimate what is required and what you have to do, to achieve your goals. That way, it’s almost guaranteed you WILL reach your goals.

Example: If your input is 200 calls, give yourself room for error. Send 2000 messages. That way, you are confident you will achieve your goal!

Step 4: SCHEDULE

Create your schedule, timeframe, your daily tasks. Ask yourself, how long will it take? Your schedule is based on the actions, not on the goal. You need to know your actions first to be able to create your schedule.

Example: You estimate you will need 4 weeks to send 2000 messages. So you know it is realistic to reach your goal in 4 weeks.

Step 5: EXECUTE

Now, you just have to do it, to execute your actions!

Conclusion

You have an action plan to reach your business goals. And there is now no possible outcome other than your goal: it’s realistic and 100% achievable.
